| Larry was
born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from the University
of Georgia (B.A., Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa), he attended Vanderbilt
University School of Law, graduating in 1971 (Order of the Coif). Upon completion
of his service as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force (Judge Advocate) in 1975,
Larry returned to Nashville to enter the private practice of law. In addition
to his active law practice, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the
Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation from April 1995 through 1998. During his
tenure there, he served as President of the San Francisco Forty Niners NFL
team during the 1998 season.
Larry's practice involves
the representation of family owned businesses and their owners, entrepreneurs,
executives and other individuals and entities, including tax exempt organizations.
He provides counsel in the areas of corporate and business law, mergers,
acquisitions, divestitures, wealth transfer, tax and business succession
planning. He often serves as outside general counsel to closely held businesses.
In addition to his legal practice,
Larry is actively involved in civic affairs, having served as Chairman of the Belmont University Board of Trustees for thirteen years, teaching a Sunday School class
at his church, and serving on the Board of The Alvin and Sally Beaman
Foundation.
Larry is married and resides
with his wife in Brentwood.
